Wouldn't It Be Nice to Spend...

June 7, 2008

Greetings friends!

I may have a son who just completed 7th grade, and I may be married to a guy who is almost 40, and I may on occasion find myself standing up in that old lady hunched up way. But despite all this, I've still been able to maintain the illusion that I'm young. That is until today.

I was innocently renting some videos from my local Blockbuster when I presented my driver's license to a seemingly polite young man at the counter. All he had to do was make the obligatory glance at the card and hand it back. But as this boy hands me back my card, the year 1970 jumps out at him. And seemingly without thinking he laughs, "Whoa, 1970—you were born two decades before me". I don't know what this little upstart wanted me to say, but I responded with a polite smile, a brief nod, and asked him if he could help me sign up for Netflix. He didn't get it—but I don't need to deal with these kids (who think the 80s is just a theme for a dance) out there making me feel old. What that kid didn't understand was that just the other day I was his age.

There is a point here—wouldn't it be nice to spend one evening every ten years with people who understand that you are, in fact, young? With peers who understand the beauty of girls with permed, monstrous hair and boys who knew how to age their own jeans.

So, come to the reunion!! And to be more specific—buy your tickets! Many of you have indicated your plan to attend the Friday night dinner, but haven't actually bought your tickets. (About 100 tickets have been purchased, so those good people can ignore this plea.)

So for the next four days (through Tuesday, June 10th) we are rolling back our prices to $50/ticket. Take advantage of this price and get your tickets now! This deal won't last long—
so click on this link now for the chance to attend this once in a lifetime event!

But seriously:
  1. We really do hope you'll come.

  2. It would be helpful to know sooner rather than later how many people will be attending.

  3. All tickets must be purchased by June 16th!

  4. In order to make sure there is enough food, NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD THE NIGHT OF THE DINNER.

  5. We want everyone to be able to come. If the price of the ticket has been a factor in choosing not to come, then PLEASE contact me at amyhrussell@yahoo.com or at 801.415.1972.

We'll see you soon—I hope!

Amy Hughes Russell
