Where Are They Now? — Kim Struthers

Wow, where has 20 years gone, and how do I summarize in not too many words what I have been doing all that time?

After graduation, I went to BYU as did so many others. After a year of college, I served a mission in the Buenos Aires South mission, which opened my eyes to the real world and made me thankful for peanut butter and carpeted floors. It was by far one of the best things I have done in the 20 years I am trying to account for. Following my mission, I went back to BYU and became an expert in changing majors (about 5 times). After I racked up about 110 credit hours, I decided it was time to pick whatever major there was that would take the least amount of time to graduate. I ended up with a degree in geography with an emphasis in urban planning. After a brief internship at Provo City, I took a job with Lehi City as a planner and 12 years later here I am living and working in Lehi!

As for the most important things in life, I met my wonderful wife Michelle Fraughton Struthers (an AF Caveman alumni) on a blind date arranged by another PHS alumni, Bill Bernardi. We were married just before I graduated from BYU in 1996 and now have 4 awesome kids, Ellie - 11 yrs., Katie - 9 yrs., Kaleb - 5 yrs., and Kaden - 4 yrs. Our family loves camping, hiking, running (especially trail running) and swimming. Running is what I had to do when I started feeling really old, that 30 something syndrome. I saw Dan Knight a year or two ago at a PG Strawberry Days 5K. As our latest adventure, we are signed up to run the Bryce Canyon 1/2 marathon this summer, and have also run in the Squaw Peak 50 Mile trail run. We love living in Lehi and being close to our families. I still hang out with Bill Bernardi (class of 89) and Peter Hewett on occasion and see some other familiar bulldog faces now and again, but I'm looking forward to the reunion and renewing some old friendships.

You have a beautiful family. It's nice to read about so many classmates that have stayed so active. I couldn't run a block if it were to save my life. Your job sounds awesome as well.

yeah I remember feeling pretty good about myself after running that 5K because I made it in under 20 minutes and then they handed out the awards for the "old guy" age group and Kim beat me by about a minute or something. He's got some wheels for an older fella.

Very nice to catch up with you. You and Billdoe and Pete need to find some time for your old buddy.

See you at the reunion.

Kim,
How the heck are you? Remember "The Great Outdoors"? Remember working at the LRC together at good ol' BYU? Good times. Did you you hear that Jenny Oman died last year (she worked with us at the LRC)? Sad story.

I can't believe I haven't even seen you since college! I live in AF, but very close to Lehi. Send me a note sometime, it'd be fun to get caught up. scottm@ogilife.com

Great to see you are doing so very well.
