Where Are They Now? — Sunyoung Kim (Fitt)

I can't believe it has already been 20 years! Back then I was in the middle of culture shock coming from Korea, but Provo High was the best place to begin my journey in America. So many of you reached out to me and made me feel welcome and part of you. I have nothing but happy memories of all my time at Provo High.

Let me fill you in on what has been going on with me since graduation. I attended BYU and studied art (of course) and met my husband Ron Fitt during my first semester! (We didn't get married until a year and a half later). Ron is from the San Francisco Bay Area and he graduated from BYU in Accounting. We lived in California for a couple of years where Ron worked at a public accounting firm. We then decided to move all the way across the country to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where Ron got his MBA. After that, we never came back west. We spent about 6 years living in Cincinnati, OH working for Procter and Gamble. We then moved to where we currently live, Jacksonville, Florida, where Ron is working for Johnson & Johnson as a Finance Director.

I stay at home with our 3 children (Lauren 16, Katie 12, and Andrew 8). We enjoy living in the Sunshine State where we have developed a love for tennis and the beach. Although our blood has thinned (we think a 50 degree day is freezing), we still make the trip back to Utah once a year to do some skiing.

I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to make it to the reunion. I really wanted to come but I am scheduled to have open-heart surgery on the 19th of June in New York. Believe it or not, this will be my second open-heart surgery. I had the surgery 3 years ago as well but unfortunately there is more to do. I have a great surgical team so I should be in good hands. Other than that, life has been really great for me. I am really grateful for all the friends I made at Provo High and I'll really miss being there. Hopefully I'll be able to make it for the 30th reunion.

Go Bulldogs!!!!!

Sunyoung,
We had so much fun in art. You always had a beautiful smile and it looks like you still do. I am sorry to hear about your heart surgery, I hope that it all goes smooth for you. I will miss seeing you and your family. What a great family you have been blessed with. But then you've always been such a awesome person. I will be praying for you.

Sunyoung,

I'll never forget the Halloween dance. That was the best date I've ever been on, except for the one where I met my wife, but that is another story. You and your family look great. We will miss you at the reunion.

Sunyoung,
Steve and I have been thinking of you and hoping that all has gone well with your surgery. You are a light to everyone around you, and you will brighten our Provo High reunion even in you absence. We are all pulling for you, and you will be missed. We love you. Heather Densley

Hello Sun,

Life is funny, I think we never talk, even when we were in the same art camp, art competition or class back in BYU. However I run into your dad some years ago, back than your dad said you have two kids.

I am sure you will do just great after the surgery. We will all live long with today’s medical technology. We need to ask Amy to plan our year 2088 - 1988 PHS class reunion at Provo High School. Just make sure you come to that big one.
