Where Are They Now? — Koreen Healey (McCormick)

Well, I will admit that 20 years seems like a long time ago, but having a daughter 3 months shy of 20 has kept it all too real! In 1987, senior year, my sweetheart (Dave) came home from his mission in Canada and swept me off my feet in the 7-11 parking lot by asking me if I thought August was a good month to get married since he would between semesters at BYU. Romantic, huh? Over the past 21 years he has gotten a lot better J.
So we were married in August of 87 and planning on me finishing high school and him college, play some and then think about kids, but 5 months after our wedding we found we were pregnant. I finished my 2 credits left in college and finished up with a GED and year of college behind me. We tried the birth control thing 4 more times, and it worked. We have Jillian, Parker, North and Abby (the fifth was a tubal pregnancy and fixed the birth control problem permanently).
We lived in Provo while Dave went to BYU until my mother passed away in 1990, BYU cancelled Daves major and his boss closed his business all within a 2 week period. We packed our stuff and moved to the Salt Lake Valley and have been there ever since. We were in Murray, Kearns, West Jordan, Riverton and now Herriman, which I love. Dave was washing windows for a couple of different companies in Provo and SLC then in '92 he started his own business, Salt Lake Window Cleaning Company, and has done well for us and himself. He never really saw himself washing windows for a living but they aren't called the golden handcuffs for nothing. He is an artist at heart and someday you may see his paintings in a gallery. I stayed at home with my kids (well I don't think most of it was at home. Most of it was playing taxi driver) for 15 years and then decided we needed some insurance so went to work for jetBlue Airways. I was a reservationist for 2 years and then moved to a support team and have been with them for almost 7 years. I like my work and love the benefits. We have been able to travel and have been to NYC several times, Boston, Maine, Florida, the Caribbean, all parts of California, and will be in Alaska for a week at the end of the month. To make our retirement money we have been building and selling our homes and hope to own one outright in two more moves. We both love building and next time, I think we will try our hand and being our own contractors. It will be an adventure if nothing else, which is my motto of sorts. Everything is an adventure to me and if you are around me long enough you can come on one too, just ask my kids. J
Our first, Jilli, is in college and majoring in Fashion Illustration. She got her dad's artistic ability. She was a straight A student until she noticed boys(about 8th grade), but now she is in something she loves she is back to A's. I look at her and am amazed that I was once her age..... I feel OLD, and the grey in the hair proves it.
Parker is 18 and a junior at Riverton High. He skates in the summer and boards in the winter whenever he can, plays the drums and it actually sounds like music and is doing the high school thing. Unlike me when I was his age, he still hugs his momJ.
North is 13 and our resident techy (I said, very lovingly by the way," geek" and he about died). His favorite book this week is "Java Scirpts". I don't understand a word of it, but can tell you he was able to write the code to embed his piano music on our family blog (dkmccormick.com).
Abby is 11 years and 10 months old, almost 12, and the baby of the group. She is just coming into her own this year and is all girl. Jill says Abby is "pink" and that is the best way to describe her.
I hate to say it but my fondest memory of High School was leaving it. I remember so many of you, gaining friendships with some and snatches of time in High School. But between being bullied , dating someone who was in college, and never figuring out how one could add the alphabet in algebra, I just didn't fit in anywhere in particular, so it was a breath of fresh air to be out of school. I found my niche in life being a wife and mom and am having blast!! Most of our family dinners end up in a friendly food fight or someone snorting milk thru their nose from laughing. Life is great!!
I look forward to seeing you at the reunion and meeting your families! And on that same note would love to hear from you.... Email - essenceofblue@tmail.com

I remember vividly the snowy day that we went sledding at your house. You had a tube tide behind an ATV. Carma and I got thrown into the river, and I gashed my lip open on the rocks. I still have the scar, and wear it with pride. I drove by your house the other day and told that story to my son Taige. Those are great memories.
So good to hear from you, and I look forward to seeing you and your family.
Long time no see. Just to let you know am pregnant again. I will be 5 months along at the reunion. I would love to say I was all done along time ago but I just didn't get pregnant. So we are thrilled about our little girl and this new one. We don't know what it is yet, but we are betting on another girl. I'll let you know. Your family is looking great. I am so excited to see you and your family in June.
It's great to see you still have that great smile. I remember how grown up you seemed in high school. (Well, I guess you were.) I'm glad things have turned out well.
Best,
Lois Decker (Brown)
