Where Are They Now? — Becky Boone (Gray)

As many of you have said, it’s IS hard to believe that it has been 20 years! I have been reading about those of you that have written and kept procrastinating about writing my own entry but I guess since I am off today I don’t have any excuses.

It seems that the best place to start is graduation. I goofed off in Provo for 2 weeks before heading off to the East coast to be a Nanny. I landed in the beautiful, lush, green countryside of Virginia and have called it home ever since. I nannied for a year and decided that I wasn’t ready to go back to Utah so I became a Dental Assistant and then got my trial marriage out of the way.

Since Dental Assisting was extremely boring to me, as was my marriage, I decided to try another adventure and became a Fireman, or to be more politically correct a Firefighter. I absolutely loved it! Every day at work had the potential for a new adventure but I soon tired of the “waiting” for one to happen so I switched to a job where I can be as busy as I want to be and became a Police Officer. I work for the county where I live which is just outside of Washington DC and have been a Cop for just over 10 years now. I patrol an extremely busy area that many of you probably saw on the news during the DC Sniper incident several years back. It is also just a couple of miles from the Pentagon and on September 11th, I felt the ground shake under my feet when the jet hit and exploded. I truly believe that I have found my calling and I love going to work.

While I was working with the Fire Department, I met my soulmate. We “dated” for just over 8 years just to be sure it was right, haha, and got married 4 years ago. I definitely found my HOT fireman! We have traveled all over the place mostly to surfing destinations, but anywhere there is ocean, sand and sun is ok by me. We both competed in the Firefighter Combat Challenge which is aired on ESPN every year and now we race dirt bikes. They keep accumulating in our garage! We continue to try to find challenging things to compete in. I haven’t tried the Triathlon thing yet, who knows maybe one day, if only it didn’t involve running. J

Just when I thought life was perfect my greatest adventure yet came along. My little girl was born! She never sits still, I’m not sure where she gets that from but she is an absolute joy. She is now almost 17 months old and she will soon have a baby sister since I am pregnant with number 2, due in August. I never thought that I would be getting close to 40 and having my first kids but I wouldn’t change any of it!

I am hoping to make it out for the reunion I just have to get clearance from the Doctor to travel. My family is mostly still in the Provo area so I get out there frequently, in fact I was just at Zion’s in March for my brother’s wedding. While hiking I ran straight into Peter Ullave. Small world!

In thinking about reunions you always figure that you will do everything to look awesome to show everyone that you aren’t old, fat, bald or falling apart but I never thought that I’d be going to my 20th reunion in my 8th month of pregnancy! I hope to see you all there as I waddle along there are no excuses for the rest of you not to come!

Becky - Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL! I have to say you're braver then I am. By that I mean having kids, but I guess after reading about your life that could apply to a lot of things. You look great and I am sure that you'll look just as great pregnant. Hope to see you!

Your daughter is absolutely darling. You look blissfully happy so you must be doing something right. James did some firefighter training too but now we live too far "out there" for him to be able to do it. See you at the reunion.
Becky,

It was cool to hear about how your life has been. Full of adventures.
I have wondered many times where your life led you. But I do have to say I am glad it is you and not me that is pregnant. Hope to see you this summer.

Becky Boone- You look great - and I would love to see how you handle a pair of handcuffs. Hey- I tried chasing you down for a long time before and after the mission- and all I ever got was a couple of post cards from Virgina. I've often thought of you and now finally- 20 years later I cant wait to catch up with you. Talk to you soon.

Isn't it crazy that we both left home after high school to become nannies and have never really gone back to Utah. AND, you have a crazy monster dog like I do. How old is yours? Email anytime! Yvonne Krolls Lather

Aloha Girl,
It's good to read that all is well with you and your family. I still remember all the crazy things we used to do together. Catching up now should be fun.
