Where Are They Now? — Andy Horton

Wow!! It's great to see all these faces again.
After graduation, I went down to Snow College with Lance Garvin as a roomie. I then served a mission in San Bernardino California, Spanish-speaking. After the mission, I met a great girl from- (brace yourself), Timpview, named Stephanie Gillespie. We dated for a year and a half and were married in 1992. We now have 6 children; 4 girls and 2 boys ranging from 1 1/2 to 13. In 1995 I graduated from BYU with a degree in Zoology and have since received a Masters in education. I have been a seminary teacher since 1995. I taught at Mountain View for 9 years and Pleasant Grove for a year.
In 2004, I was asked to come up to the Church Office Building in SLC to produce films for the Church Educational System (Seminary and Institute). I have been able to help develop some films for the Church that will be coming to a distribution center near you next year in a product called the Old Testament Visual Resource DVD. It's taken 4 years to create and will be followed by 3 more similar DVD products for the other 3 books of scripture. I love what I'm doing but hope to get back to the seminary or institute classroom within the next few years.
As far as accomplishments, of course I'm thrilled to be a father of some great kids and the husband to an incredibly ambitious, beautiful, and motivating stay-at-home wife. She has a quick wit and is very involved with our kids' schools and other activities and at the same time manages to keep our home clean and organized. We like to laugh a lot in our home and dinner time is always an adventure. I guess and Bulldog and a Thunderbird can get along after all.
I have had the opportunity to do a bit of speaking around the country for EFY over the years and just recently have had a book and 4 or 5 CD's released at various LDS bookstores.
The best part of my life though is spent playing soccer, baseball, basketball with my kids and traveling with my family. We often team-up with my good buddy Lance Garvin and his family for vacations and other events.
We currently live in Orem where we have been for 11 years.
We won't be able to make it to the reunion because of a little get-away with our family but I have loved seeing all your pictures online- thanks to those managing this website!!

By the way, do you work with Gary Cook? He's my husband's uncle.

Good to see the pics! You're looking as handsome as ever! I'll never forget that 60-take off that went for 99 yards! Long time no hang-out. What do I need to do to get invited on one of those Disney trips?

How's the new company going? BTW, it was a was a 60-take off but it only went for 85 yards. Let's get together. Let's all go crash Clark and Di's in Kamas for a weekend.
What a beautiful family you have! I'm not at all surprised that someone as great as you has created such a great life. I have so many great memories of you from jr high and high school, Andy! You were always so way out of my league, though, that I can't post any great stories about first loves and first kisses. I do remember you as a Polo cologne wearer--am I remembering that right?
I'm so sad we won't see you this summer--we're going to have to insist you make it to the 30th, though. Take care, Andy!
Wow! what a stud you are. What happened to the lean body? Now its all buff. I can't believe you have 6 kids, thats awesome. Your wife is as beautiful as I remember. I met her at a baby shower for Vicki Thompson O'brian. She was very kind. I won't add my name to your list of girls you kissed. I thought I was your first kiss along with Scott and Lance. But I am soooooo much more mature now. So I can handle it. It really is to bad that you and your family wont be at the reunion. I would like to meet them.
Great pics! Sorry to hear you won't be making the reunion. Let's get the gang together some other weekend, eh? And next time you and the Garvins are racing to Disneyland, make a pit stop!

PS You're seriously an incredible friend. I really couldn't ask for a better one!!
It's a wonder you could get much accomplished with all the girls you were kissing. But, as you know, you were MY first real kiss. I have very fond memories of movies at the drive-in and playing tag in the park at night. I am very impressed with all that you have done. I always knew you would be successful. And I have listened to all of your CD's and you are still very funny.

Yes, I remember going to many movies with you and the rest of the group. But, did we actually watch the movie is the question.
Denise is doing great. She has three kids (16, 14, 12) and lives in Pocatello. Kristen is now 31! Isn't Emily the same age? How can our baby sister's be getting so old?

So fun to see the pix of your family and hear about your life! I have so many awesome memories of childhood playing with you... popcicle sticks, floating boats down the gutter, listening to Paul's "Dr. Dimento" music, hide-and-seek at night, and all the stuff we did as kids. You taught me about being cool with stuff like sweat bands, flat-tops, BMX bikes, and "going with" girls (I never actually applied any of the lessons you taught me, but you were the guru teacher of cool)
I sense a theme on the comments you are receiving, so officially, for the record, as Andy's best bud through elementary school I hate to break the news to all the high school girls out there but none of you were even CLOSE to being Andy's first. As a nine-year-old I quickly learned what "going with" meant when I moved in next to Andy. Andy was "goin' with" a new girl every 2 weeks from 2nd grade through 7th (after that I lost track and Lance and Scott took over as the historians of the archival volumes of Andy O's black book). You were such the stud... I almost feel jealous that MY name isn't the first one on your list! j/k

Just wondering. Did you decide to teach seminary to help make up for all the kissing you did in your pre-marriage existence? JK
Actually, I am jealous. I would have loved to become a seminary teacher but was steered off in different paths.
I am impressed by the 6 kids but even more impressed by traveling with 6 kids. We have traveled with our 3 a lot but it hasn't been easy.
Too bad I won't see you at the reunion. Hopefully, our paths will cross again soon.
