Where Are They Now? — Amy Carter (Ashton)

After high school I began working at NuSkin Int. while attending cosmetology school at Mary Kawakami College of Beauty on Center Street in Provo (Nicole Crossett was there too!).
Brian Ashton (PHS ‘87) and I had been dating since the beginning of my senior year, so we decided to make it official and were married in October of 1989. We made our first home in Orem. I quit school (because Brian and I couldn’t see enough of each other if we were both working and going to school!) and went to work as a receptionist at IION Inc. in Orem.

Our first child, Alex (16) was born in July of 1991. Brian had been working at his Dad’s service station as a mechanic (Tony Abbott would remember this) and decided it was time for a career change. He attended Real Estate school and went into business with my dad and brother in-law. I also changed jobs and went to work at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center as a receptionist. We purchased our first home in the Provo River bottom area in 1993. While in Provo we were blessed with two more children, Drew (13) and Cooper (12). After the birth of Cooper I decided to quit work and be a stay at home mom. I feel very blessed that Brian worked very hard so that I had the opportunity to dedicate this time to our children.
In 1994 Brian started a development in Payson. He made friends with many of the people he was selling homes to and we began to really like the area (I know, I can’t believe it either!), so in 1997 we built a new home in Payson and moved from Provo.
Brian earned his General Contracting degree in 1998 and began building a new development on the east bench of Santaquin (even worse right?). After much persuading on his part we moved to Santaquin in 2002. We love it here!! (Dale Bair and his beautiful wife Whitney are in my ward).
After Cooper started the 2nd grade I decided to go back to school and finish my Cosmetology degree (I was really sick of hearing my family sing “Beauty School Drop Out”). After graduating, I taught at Image Works academy of Hair Design in Spanish Fork while Brian went to work on building me a salon in our home.
I now own and operate “Amy Ashton Hair Design” and love what I am doing! My kids are very involved in sports and activities, so I enjoy the flexibility of working from my home.

Our family enjoys spending our summers at the beach in Southern California and traveling to my parent’s home in St. George every weekend we can possibly get away. We have an English bulldog named “Olie” (Go Bulldogs!) which I continually find my kids dressing up as a “Lion” for school events.

My kids are great! They keep me busy and bring such happiness into my life. Alex (16) is a junior at Payson High and is currently serving as Jr. Miss Santaquin. She plans to start cosmetology school this August and is saving her pennies to tour Europe next summer. Drew (13) is in the 7th grade. He is very involved in all sports and is currently playing accelerated baseball for the Payson Lions, which takes us all over Utah every weekend. Cooper (12) is in the 6th grade. He loves his dirt bike, skateboard and surfing. He recently won the Jr. Jazz fun shot for our region and was recognized as one of the top 24 participants (ages 12-18), out of the 60,000 who play Jr. Jazz, during a Jazz game at the Energy Solutions Arena. I am very proud of each of them.

Brian probably stays in contact with more people from our graduating class than I do, (he has recently been working on Dan Knight’s beautiful new home) and he keeps me caught up on some class mates but I am really looking forward to seeing and catching up with everyone again.

Michelle (Crossett) & Todd Sorenson’s (PHS ’85) son, Tyson.

You and Brian sound so happy and content. I wish so bad I could see you all at our reunion. I have soooooooooooo many memories of our entire childhood/teenage years together. I'm so happy for you and Brian. Vicki Thompson (O'Brien).
Yes I remember the old Edgemont service days with BA,Scotty dog and going to lunch at Ripples everyday (I was at Stadium Chevron).
Glad to hear you and BA are doing so well. You live close yet I have not heard from Brian in sometime.
It will be great to see you guys next month.
See ya soon
Tony Abbott
Great to hear from you. BA is kicking butt on our house. He's a talented guy. We look forward to seeing you at the reunion.

PS. I still haven't forgiven you for rating Howard Snow a 10 and me a 9 in 6th grade when we were "going together." That's a bunch of crap.
You and Brian are a great looking couple! I don't think either of you have aged a day since '88! You are one of the nicest people I know. It will be nice to see you at the reunion. Tell Brian hi for me, too. I have a lot of memories w/ him from waaaaaay back. I've got some great pictures of when we played on Pino Concrete's little league team together, too! Hillarious!

PS Melissa and Cliff are great. We're glad they're in the neighborhood! Stop by next time you're there!
It's so great to see you and hear from you. Life is definitely changed from high school. You seem to have it all....great kids, a great career, and B.A. He's one lucky guy. Have you made him some red shorts that look like they were straight out of the Flintstones like you did for our one and only date in high school. I think not. Brian don't worry about it, the shorts were not all that, but the effort put into making them was!! It will be great seeing you guys in Provo. I am assuming you are going, because if you don't go, Brian might just go as Dan Knight's date!!! Better make sure there's nothing going on there!! See you soon.

You look sooooo great. Your family looks so happy. What a blessing you and Brian have been given. I love all the pictures of the family. It is really weird to look at your family and try to see which one is you and which one is your daughter. That is amazing how you both look so much alike. It will be fun to see you and your family at the reunion.
It's nice to hear from you. You and Bryan have a beautiful family.
Did we learn anything in the classes we had together? It's amazing we didn't get kicked out for talking. I started skiing with the family again this past season, Sundance has changed alot from when we used to go, but the memories are still there.

Make that 'Amy' instead of 'Any'.

Great to see your post. I hope that your sister liked living in Boise. Too bad I never ran into her. Anyway, my parents are doing well and moved to a little condo in Provo. Buffy's in Seattle and Jeannie teaches jr high over in Mapleton. You and your family look great. Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.
Howard
Look forward to seeing both of you next week. It is so much fun to read about how great your life has turned out. Let me know if your daughter needs any tips for her trip to Europe.

I have to write one of my memories of you that you have no idea about. It was the first day of kindergarten and I didn't know anybody in the class. However, after a few hours I figured out you and Michelle Taylor were the social kids of the group, and I was so happy that I was wearing the same shoes as you. Weird that I remember that, huh?
Glad to see your family.
Best,
Lois Decker (Brown)
