Where Are They Now? — Rod Johnson

Happy 20Th! class of 1988. Wow! Where do I start?

A few months after graduation I got called to serve in the Roanoke, Virginia mission. I got to meet a lot of nice, and not-so-nice people out there. Even the studies from (Mr. Moons) U.S. history class became real to me. I saw a lot of the historic buildings, war fields, and such while there. My claim to fame or famous person is watching Alan Iverson play ward hoops in Newport News, VA. Everyone talked how great he was at the age of 14, but I thought there was no chance of him making the Provo High team...( guess I was way wrong on that ).

Came home and did some schooling at UVSC for a couple years, and decided to just find a job and earn some money. Dated off and on with several different girls, then got a phone call from a "hottie" from VA who would be coming out to BYU for school. We dated off and on for a few years and decided to marry. She also went to school with Alan Iverson!

We had 3 kids as we moved up and down the valley of Utah with her schooling. We lived in Provo, Murray, Lehi, and settled down in Santaquin by buying our first home.

I had been at Jones Paint and Glass for about 10 years doing window installs for them, and had been hit in one of the work trucks. I had to have a few operations to fuse and screw my L-3 and L-4 together. Right about that time the mudslide hit Santaquin, and ruined our neighborhood. So I had to find a new career doing something without having to lift so much weight. I took on a Dental Lab school for about a year. Got a great job offer out in Columbia, Missouri doing "smile design" work.

We have enjoyed it out here, but miss family and friends! We had one more kid while out here so we ended up with four. Cambell will be 14 this year, Gannon is 11, Peyton 7, and little miss Evie will be 4 this year.

My wife Meredith is a ER nurse here in town. We are busy with swim team, baseball, football.

We are loyal BYU fans, but it was hard this year as our Mizzou Tigers football team got up to #1 as they kicked the crap out of Kansas!!!!! We look forward to seeing all of you this summer. And thanks for reading... Rod

Hey.....How's that nephew of yours that you would teach to swear? Such an impressionable young kid....did he turn out ok??

Rod,
I still am looking behind my back everytime I'm in Springville. Now I understand why you moved so far away. I did ask my wife, and she started screaming and splashing around.

I'm amazed how big your family is, I never thought you were a big family guy. But hey what do I know, I thought the same thing about Matt and he has five kids. Can't tell from your picture if you've got some Homer Simpson hair left or none at all. Just thought I'd throw in a little jab in case you're not coming to the reunion. Hope to see you there.

Hey Rod!
It was great to hear from you and it sounds like you are doing well. I see your brother Donnie all the time, he has some boys who are great ball players. Anyways, your family looks awesome and I am so happy for you.
I remember that picture you are talking about. I think I may even have a copy laying around somewhere. Dad weighed about 350 in that photo didnt he? He is around 180 now a days, he is thinner than me.
You look great and I am looking forward to seeing you in June. GO COUGS!

Hi Rod,
We miss seeing you and your family around Santaquin.
Cooper misses Gannon and I am sure Drew and Cambell would hit it off!
Thanks for the time you spent coaching Cooper in T-ball/Coach pitch.
Glad to hear all is going well for you.

Hey Rod,

What great pictures of you family. It will be great to see you all in June.

I remember you in high school as always saying "Hi" to everyone. You were always known as the tall nice guy. And you were pretty dang good at basketball.

You and your family look great.

Rod - thanks for having your mom track me down. It's been fun to read about everyone and catch up! You're right, wasn't the best of circumstances but at least she found me! Duane is doing fairly well considering what a tough year it's been! Thanks for asking!

It looks like things are going well for you!

I Hope to see you and your family soon!
Crystal
