Where Are They Now? — John Perkins

Here is a picture of me with my boys. I didn't age as well as Clark.

Well it has been fun reading about where people have been and what they've been doing. I work for Child and Family Services as a Program Manager. I basically supervise a team of social workers that work with foster kids and with families in the community. I live in Spanish Fork. I married a girl from Dallas, Texas. Her name is Heather. I have three boys Colby 5, Carter 3 and Collin 18 months.

I try to go golfing once a week with Kurt Walker, Bailey Pack and Marvin Dean. During the winters we do lunch instead of golf.

My most embarrassing moment was at a pep assembly. I was a freshman and was sitting in the bleachers that pulled out from the walls in the gym. We were standing up to cheer or yell or something. Well when I stood up I slipped and fell and caused everyone in front of me to fall. I fell on top of the girl in front of me and wedged my foot in the bleachers and could not get off of her. She kept yelling "get off of me" and I kept trying but it took me a while to get out of that mess.

Or maybe it was the time that I was carrying the mats back to the shed after pole vaulting and Marv decided to pants me. That was embarrassing. Or maybe it was the time after pole vaulting that Marv decided to spit a loogee at me in the showers and I took off running and ran into Coach Henderson coming around the corner. I fell back on floor and he said "What the hell are you doing...get dressed and quit running in the locker room." Or maybe it was the time that Marv...well you get it.

Here is the real picture of my family.

John,

When I was finishing my MSW in 1994, DCFS had just gone through that big law suit and they were recruiting hard. I was not interested! But, I think I could work for DCFS if you were my boss!

Just hearing your name makes me smile--what a great, funny guy you are!

I'm very embarrassed about what happened in high school. John, your stories, embellished or not, keep me laughing. Tee it up! By the way it was not all one sided. I remember when I wore a speedo for the first time you had all the girls on the swim team lined up outside the boys locker room. Talk about baptism by fire! I still have awkward dreams about that day.

Hey John - your family looks great. I have an old picture of us with Kurt Walker at Lagoon on senior day. Remember he got so sick on the first ride (I think it was when the Colossus was new)that he had to go home early? To this day I still can't hear INXS without remembering you two. I think I've also got an old picture of your sister when she came over to my house in Arkansas while she was there for some reason the summer after we graduated. I'll have to find those for you if you'd like copies...Take care - Lynne (Shepherd)

Perk, You are incredible! And you have such a great looking family, too! It's been a long time! Even longer since Mr. Lindsay's choir class w/ you, me and Mark! Good times! Can't wait to catch up at the reunion! Tell Bailey hi for me next time you see him.
